Gold Egg Dilemma
Once upon a time, there was a farmer who owned a goose that laid golden eggs. When the farmer first laid eyes on the 24k gold eggs, their eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. The farmer was thrilled with the prospect of making a fortune from the goose's golden eggs.
Within the farmer's mind, there was a meeting between the consumer and the producer, as to who would take ownership of the egg, determining the fate of the farmer's wealth. The consumer wanted to use it and have a big party, while the producer wanted to preserve it for future use.
The farmer slept on the decision, but ironically, he forgot about the egg when he woke up. However, when the farmer went to collect eggs from the goose, he found another 24k gold egg, and he was amazed. The farmer rushed back to the house to look for the first egg.
Now the farmer had two 24k gold eggs and decided to cash in one egg, while the other would be held for the producer. The farmer indulged in a luxurious lifestyle with the money he received from the egg. However, this led him to the point where he no longer wanted to be a farmer.
One day, the farmer went to the goose's house to find no egg to be found. Rushed into a panic, the farmer searched the entire goose house for the golden egg, but he found a dead goose instead. The farmer had allowed the consumer to take control and spent just as much money that had come in with the intent of the money lasting forever.
The farmer had lost everything, including the golden egg, the goose, and the farm. The consumer had taken control and left the farmer with nothing. The producer's job is to ensure that there is always a piece of the reward that stays with the winner and control the consumer from putting you in a worse place than when you started.
It's important to allow the producer at the decision-making table, paying the winner first before everyone else, and never allowing the consumer to steal from the producer. Otherwise, you could lose what you gained and also what you already had. The farmer learned this lesson the hard way and hoped that others would learn from his mistake.
